State populations are U.S. Census Bureau estimates for
Selecting a state adds the entire House, Senate, and Electoral College apportionment for that state to the totals. Non-voting members of Congress are not counted.
In the thresholds list, a Senate majority is considered 51 seats or more (i.e., does not include the case of a 50/50 split with a vice-presidential tie-breaker).
This demonstration does not currently include the following U.S. territories, which have neither voting members in congress nor presidential electors: Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa.
